Buffalo Bills inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame

After having been awarded the highest honors that our barbershop society has to offer, on October 8th the Buffalo Bills were honored by the general music community of Western New York for their significant achievements by being inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame (www.BuffaloMusic.org). Present to accept the award was baritone Dick Grapes, Barbara Shea-Tilton (daughter of lead Al Shea), Karen Reed-Way and Nancy Reed-Wirkmaa (daughters of tenor Vern Reed). Numerous barbershoppers from Seneca Land District were in attendance to witness the event and honor the Buffalo Bills, including the current Seneca Land District Quartet Champions, Empire State Quartet, who appropriately sang “Lida Rose” as part of the presentation.

Jay Giallombardo Retires as bass singer from VOCE Quartet

VOCE Quartet, which placed 11th at the 2009 International competition of the Barbershop Harmony Society in Anaheim, announces the retirement of bass singer Jay Giallombardo.

A creative arranger, international champion with the Grandma's Boys quartet, and international champion chorus director with the New Tradition Chorus of IL, Jay has decided to focus on other musical outlets and we wish him the best.

VOCE formally thanks Jay for his part in making us what we are today - for many home cooked meals on quartet weekends and many memories on and off stage. He has provided artistic vision and wonderful musical arrangements.

VOCE plans to remain active in the Barbershop Harmony Society, and is currently accepting show bids.

We want to extend a special thank you to Dave Kindinger who covered our concerts last fall. Dave is the bass singer of the International Champion Quartet, JOKER'S WILD.

VOCE remains strong in our mission to become one of the finest a cappella quartets. We look forward to our coming shows and creating new friendships at each one.
